Some horrible news, and some sad news.
With the current conditions in the Kanab, Utah Area from the Dragon Bravo Fire, we have made the call to postpone our trip.
The fire has destroyed the North Rim Lodge, and 80 other structures
The North Rim National Park is closed for the remainder of the 2025 Season
The Air quality in Kanab is smoky / not healthy
This fire would also preclude us from visiting the Vermillion cliffs
The fire is over 6,00 acres and has zero containment.
The fire has forced an extended evacuation order.
With all of this, it's not wise to go. While we are saddened by not being able to go, our thoughts are with those experiencing loss and the brave responders to the situation. We need to be out of their way.
I was able to cancel my hotel reservation without incurring any fees.
We are looking at some alternatives and will update during the day
One thought was to go to Red River or Taos, New Mexico, and ride the Enchanted Circle up in the mountains. This would be a two-day ride (700 miles each way) trip. Please let us me know if you have an Interest in this

Home base Kanab, Utah
Kanab is a city in and the county seat of Kane County, Utah, United States. It is located on Kanab Creek just north of the Arizona state line. Kanab is a fun small town with multiple dining options and at least one good place to get ice cream. This is a flexible trip - you don't have to go to every place and ride every mile. We'll be based in Kanab, Utah and do a different park/ride each day, so that we don't have to haul luggage around.

There is also a Starbucks right there, I was thinking, for those so inclined, have coffee at Starbucks, and gas up at the Chevron and KSU at 7:30
A two-day ride to Kanab, Utah, for those who want to split the miles into two days. Leaving on the 17th, so you don't miss the rides
